Tae Kwon Do

As you may know I have always stated that my children do inspire  me to do better.  My oldest son has always loved martial arts and earned his way to black belt in Tae Kwon Do.  We have recently enrolled  my youngest sons' daughters in the same loved martial art.  One reason my youngest son expressed to me was that his brother was a good example to him.  He wanted his girls to be as respectful.  We have learned the art teaches respect, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, having an indomitable spirit and succeeding in victory.  The Student Oath is to observe, respect, never misuse and to be a champion of freedom and justice building a more peaceful world.  How better can we teach our children!  How more can I be blessed!

As my daughter's wedding approaches

My excitement of my daughter's wedding inspires a portrait of new perceptions, feelings and phenomena that are coming to define  life that one's commitment brings to us.  Together, my daughter and her husband to be  will build accomplishments that we will always remembered and admired.   They are in sync in truth that will impact other's lives as they have already inspired my life more.
There is a wave of hope and faith in us to instill in our children to build better futures for their children and that is the excitement I see in my two sons and my daughter.  It is the passion for life  that resonates in their charm and illuminates their words and brings calm within us.
I am gaining a son-in-law on July 12, 2014
I have a lovely daughter-in-law since January 12, 2012
I am an inspired grandmother of my youngest son's two daughters since 2007.
I am inspired also of my youngest son's strength as he struggled to overcome his fear of singular parenting and has taken on as his personal mission to ensure that his daughters will grow powerful in their will and strength succeeding in their goals.

potential program

I believe the core of  education is a tool for leadership and social justice for our children's future.  The relationship  between parent and child is important and contributes to the intellectual vitality of the growing child.  If we can keep our children active and engaged in age development activities, projects  ect., we will see a most accomplished and dedicated child as an adult.  We need to identify the child's needs and comment to teaching and supporting their ongoing development.  Important factors in that support are recongion to provide fundamental skills and to support the child in the process of absorbing the value of personal integrity.

As Summer approaches

As summer approaches and school is near an end, we will focus on fun  summer activities such as swimming, nature walks with our magnifying glasses, collecting bugs and butterflies.  One of the things  the children like with nature is learning the cycle of the butterfly.  I show them the pictures of the butterfly sanctuary with the butterfly shedding its cocoon that my  oldest son took while being in Korea his first year.  He called the pictures "The Miracle of Metamorphosis".
Also, the children enjoy tremendously watching the finches and hummingbirds swooping down to their bird feeders in our backyard and gathering up their food from it.  It is such an amazement of wonder outdoors during our summers to find life and color that can still our souls.
Also, please don't forget to use sunblock to protect against the harmful UVA/rays.  I recommend Broad Spectrum spf 50 for best protection and also water resistant.

As Easter Aproaches

As Easter aproaches near, I am thankful for the amazing love of family.  I am reminded of the power of love between family members that binds us in unity and strength to overcome lifes challanges that sometimes develops into a web of details.  I do believe if we are faithful to God, to our families and to ourselves, we will see that strong behaivor in our children-the strength that builds principles, values, and goodness.  This goodness is the foundation  that will make our children safe without wars, without hate and without crime.

Potato Soup

My oldest son made this recipe for me last year while I visited him to attend his wedding in Korea.  I haven't stopped thinking about how delicious it was and recently asked him for the recipe.  Potato soup demonstrates the understanding of nutritional value, provides for an activity on a rainy day, it helps with counting, sequence, cooperation and of course gives as a healthy lunch.  As I have always said, my children are my inspiration for me in all aspects.    For the Soup:  you will need:
                   Potatoes- one per child  --counting
boil in enough water until potatoes are soft
                   saute' broccoli, onions
add to potatoes after draining water, add milk about 2 cups continue to boil approximently 15 minutes.  Serve with fish crackers, side plate of strawberries and blueberries, makes great as color vision, and taste with the comfort of knowing the children helped to make the meal together as an activity too.

Empathy -- A healthly life-long skill

My daughter is a great inspiration to me as also my two sons.  What I would like to share today with you is suggested to me by my daughter.  She said we need to make a conscious effort to encourage children to be more tuned in to other's feelings.  One way is to say to the child, I see you smiling today, I like that.  It helps children build emotional awareness through appropriate interaction which is a healthily strategy and life-long skill.

Art

I was visiting my daughter recently and I must admit I was revived with the admiration of the gift of her art abilities and the talent she has with painting and sculpturing.  She encouraged me to improve my skills.  Each brush stroke relieving a stress within us.  The idea of focusing on the painting project knowing the idea of the picture you want to create, then filling in the details of color to achieve that goal.  Something children enjoy that  will bring calmness and tranquility to them.                                                                         The ideal of harmony to your soul and the beauty of your work is depicted in art.  Having a focal point in the art frame-parallels a focal point in our daily life.  The newness of the painting, the desire to use contrast to make one object stand out from the rest of the picture is like a goal we have to want to achieve.
Elements as texture and color used in pleasing proportions to achieve harmony, balance, variety and unity in the painting can represent  the mood and character of the child guiding the balance in self acceptance and confidence.                                                                                                                       Our encouragement as parents is to direct attention to awareness of refinement in art that can help direct the unity that encircles values, direction, and moviation to learn life skills to the fullness life has to offer and to enjoy the journey of life as if paralleled a beautiful art painting.
What my daughter renewed in me that week of visiting with her is how beautiful the soul is revealed through the balance of art. A time to reflect and be encouraged,to give though to the preparation of art.  One lesson of art for children would be to make a mural of Noah's Ark placing the animals, Noah, his wife, the rainbow, the olive branch, and the ark on paper using colors to designate the areas for land, water and sky.  When they see their finished work they will have realized they worked as a team to achieve a comfortable feeling and a sense of accomplishment of reaching their goal the finished mural.  This project reflects the beauty, unity and balance in the art mural and in the relationship of the children working together in terms of problem solving and solution/cause and effect fostering learning, motivation and pride in themselves and their work.

Drugs: Signs and Prevention:

As parents we can  help prevent an episode of drug addition by being informed  on risks  and adverse affects of the drugs. Also, being  aware  of our children's interests and associations. Preparing our children by rehearsing or role playing how issues of drug influence can  determine the child's future.

common concerns of parents

I have noticed over the years that the most common concerns parents share are issues of sleep, discipline, and eating.  First of all sleep is a part of the natural plan of growth and rejuvenation.  So the best way to solve a sleep issue is by having a routine of dinner, bath, story time for young children and soft music in the background such as the rainforest music or classical string instruments. With the question of discipline, I find the best solution is to never overreact. Never let your temper rule you and keep calm no matter what your child says.  With the eating issue, the child will eat what you eat.  Introduce when they are before one year fruits and vegetables.  Serve them everyday.  Sit with your child at least one of the meals during the day. The child will eat well, healthy and you will establish a bond that will never be broken well into adulthood if you sit with your child and listen to them tell you about their day at dinner.
